Syntax (Morphology)

Let's study about Morphology.

What is that Morphology?
Morphology is the scientific study of the structure of words. For example : dog, chair,  etc.
Morpheme is a meaningful linguistic unit consisting of a word, that cannot be devided into smaller meaningful parts. Therefore, a morpheme is the smallest or minimum unit of meaning. Morpheme also have variants and these variants are called Allomorps, we say that the plural in English is denoted by the symbol (s).

- Free morpheme (which can occur us separate words)
- Bound morpheme (which cannot stand alone as words)
Example : Chairs
- Chair => Free morpheme
- s => Bound morpheme

Simple word & Complex word
   Simple word is consist of one morpheme, then complex word is consist of more than one morpheme.
Example :
-Student (simple word)
-Encouragement (complex word)

Affix
Affix is bound morpheme that appear before or after base of the word. This group includes is prefix, suffix,  infix and circumfix.
- Prefix is before the base word. E.g : (impossible)
- Suffix is after the basw word. E.g : (beautiful)
- Infix is middle the base word.
- Circumfix is combine the prefix and suffix. E.g : (exploitation)

Stem & Root
- Stem is the root and can take before add prefix or suffix.
- Root is base of word.
Examples :
=> Distrustful
- Dis (prefix)
- trust (root)
- Distrust (stem)
- ful, ness (suffix)
=> Nationalize
- Nation (root)
- National (stem)
- ize (suffix)
